Cockerdoodle Mark gave some sagely advice (as ever) last night and suggested we do a quick candle and told us what to look for. So around midnight Fee and I were huddled around the incubator with all the lights out, trying to candle the eggs as quickly as we could. Then it happened....Kenzies egg cheeped at us!
When I shone the candling torch on it we could see a tiny chip of egg was missing! I must admit I got a little over excited and managed to wake up Kendal and Geordie. When I say 'woke up' they both appeared from their rooms like a scene from 'Night of the Living Dead' and went back when told!
This morning Kenzie was first up, and of course checked the eggs. He woke me up with the news that his egg was hatching. It was a joy to see his face. He is SO excited!!
I had thought that the chick might be out by this morning but it is still in there. It is still cheeping and the hole is slightly bigger. Not much progress for 6 hours work!
Have brought the incubator downstairs so that we don't miss a moment!
