I was really chuffed to get several 'chicken vouchers' for my 40th birthday in October, plus the promise of some free manual labour to clear an area in the garden for my girls to roam in (thanks Graham) and a bespoke chicken house for them to live in (thanks Neale).
After much research and deliberation I decided Orpingtons were the chickens that I wanted! Was going for a brood of 4 buff coloured to start with, but after discussion with the children we have decided to go for 6 different coloured Orpingtons so that we can easily tell the difference!
After a bit more internet research I tracked down Mark from Cockerdoodlequack http://www.cockerdoodlequack.co.uk/ who is providing us with 6 fertile (we hope) eggs. One each from Buff, Blue, White, Black Splash, Lemon Cuckoo & Pure Black Orpingtons for us to stick in our incubator.
Have just had an email from Royal Mail to say they have been dispatched and will be with us before 1pm tomorrow. Can't wait!
